Coffee, please! :)

By: Kate Leeney- NASM CPT, Nutrition Coach, FNS

I love this vanilla cold brew recipe because it’s made with more natural ingredients and not all of the processed stuff.

Coffee is not the enemy, but we do need to be mindful of what we are putting into our coffee daily.

There are so many hidden calories, sugar, chemicals, and unhealthy fats in most prepared coffee drinks that we are grabbing on the go. Here are some tips about how to navigate through a menu or best ideas to make coffee at home!

  1. Avoid processed sweeteners: syrups, both regular and SUGAR FREE, have SO many chemicals and also trigger your sweet cravings for the rest of the day. Sugar craves sugar, so if we have something with a lot of added sugars in the morning, our body will ask for it for the rest of the day.

  2. Get back to the basics: black coffee, tea, cold brew, and espresso are all great options!

  3. PRO TIP: add unsweetened almond milk, coconut milk (check labels), soy milk, cinnamon, honey, unsweetened cocoa powder, cacao powder or nutmeg.

  4. Look for creamers + natural sweetness for your coffee.

My favorite creamer with the cleanest ingredients that I have found is Nutpods.

I also use Vital Proteins collagen creamer + chocolate collagen.

Finally, I love to make protein coffees with Be Well By Kelly. Read labels on everything for your long term health! Your body will thank you❤️
